Tell me how a diffuser hair dryer attachment works.

Because I used mine this morning, and my hair looks good, but it felt weird. Is it supposed to touch your head? Touch your hair? Why does it have those little knobby things if it's not in your hair? If it is in your hair, why is it so hard and ouchy? Am I supposed to be squoogling my hair around with it? With my fingers? Is there a YouTube video I could watch to figure this out?

Also, I have an attachment that looks like the crevice tool on a vacuum cleaner - all narrow and concentrate-y. What is that for?

I don't touch my head with the knobbies but use my fingers for the touselling.

As for the concentrated attachment - that's for straigtening your hair.

I use the diffuser to fluff my hair around. It doesn't usually touch my scalp, so the pointy parts don't hurt. I also use my hands to move my hair. It helps me get some additional volume at the top of my hair. I was told to use the diffuser on high heat with low air.

The other attachment is to concentrate the flow of air from the blowdryer when you're blowdrying your hair straight. I haven't found it to be particularly effective, so I usually don't use it.

It's not really supposed to touch your head, the spikes are to keep the hair from blowing around all willy nilly. I used a diffuser a ton when my hair was permed (I KNOW), and just recently got another one.

But if it's not touching my hair, then the hair's blowing. If it is touching my hair, it's touching my head. 

Maybe I don't actually have enough hair for it, though it did help me get a respectable wave going with little effort.
