Wedding Woes

2 Ceremonies or 1?

I'm having a terrible time trying to plan/select a wedding venue(s).

My fiance comes from a very large family, roughly 200 family members, who all live in CT.  My family all resides in Western PA and most of them are older, roughly 100 people.

Where do we get married?  Pick a place in the middle and ask everyone to travel and pay for hotel rooms? Or do we do 2 ceremonies?

I dread the thought of planning to weddings, but it may be neccessary and if so, how do we pick which is first, which one is the real one?

  • Pick somewhere in the middle. CT and PA are not that far apart - frankly, I'm sure I could have the same drive time and never leave CO.

  • you're looking at an 8-9 hour drive time? (depending on where in CT and W. PA)

i think it would be easier to get married wherever you currenly live (for planning purposes) - make folks come to you. if they want to be there, and have the means/time/etc. they'll make the trip.

I'm a yinzer, so I'd be partial to a Pittsburgh wedding, if you're from that area. It's probably also going to be cheaper than CT.

    What does your FI want?
  • Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.  I don't know what we're going to do.  We live in CT and it would be an 8 hour drive easily for my much older family, I doubt we would get many to actually show.  I'm going to look at venues in the middle soon, somewhere around the hershey area.
