Future Husband's Uncle Want to be Flower Girl

New the message boards.  Here you go:

My Uncle-in-law wants to play a practical joke at our wedding by dressing up as the 'flower girl'. I'm not sure if I feel this is appropriate, and I'm looking for opinions.

this is not a question of who gets the attention.  this is a question of whether or not you think this is appropriate.  and inasmuch as you already discussed it with him and he had the dress made, you clearly think it is appropriate.

btw, has he always been drunkle --  jumping into the pool fully clothed at bbqs, doing cartwheels, playing the "look at me" game?  that is tired.

Sure, why not? But don't wait for him to walk back in in a suit before you start the bridal party walking down the aisle.

So you want his practical joke to be part of your wedding?  I'd say NO.

You already said yes to the guy, you're kindof stuck now.

FWIW, not even a crazy uncle dressed as a woman is going to take away from the bride and groom on the wedding day. It may make people question your tastes, but they will still know the day is about you.

drunkle does not necessarily mean drunk uncle.  i meant it in the term of inappropriate uncle, whether it's drunk, hugs too long, or constantly needs attention.

and you already told HIM it was okay.  it doesn't matter if your friends told YOU it's not okay -- you already told him it was.

This situation is where I draw the line on not allowing brides to throw people out of the bridal party.  I never thought it would come, but it has.  Plead temporary insanity, pay for his dress, and tell him he'll have to find another occasion to wear it.  And don't ever be this stupid again...or next time you'll have to follow through.

Why did you change this?  Your original post was so much better.  It really described the scene so perfectly.
