FI has a close friend who has been in a coma since April of 2009.  Probably is not going to recover.  His wife is very close with everyone and is very much in our circle of friends.  She truly believes her husband will make a miraculous recovery and one day things will be just as they once were.  So...

    If you addressed it just to her, he would come out of his coma 2 weeks before your wedding and be ridiculously offended that you did not invite him.

    Whether or not he'll recover, he's still alive, and still very much her husband. They are a family unit regardless of his medical condition.
