Help!! Invites, bleh.

Hi Ladies!

So my wedding is July 30th and I don't have invitations out yet. Is this bad? I read somewhere the norm was 6 weeks, but as fast as this year is flying by, I feel like I should have had them out a month ago.

Not only do I not have them out, but it's kidn of a DIY project and I don't have paper products yet. I also don't have the photo (it's a photo invite) taken yet. Hoping to do that this weekend... maybe.  Please keep in mind that I'm a notorious procrastinator and a master of "winging it".

But I'm starting to freak out a bit. Am I in deep sheisse?     Other 7/30 ladies: Do you have your invites out yet?

It really depends on your guest list. I'm a July 16th bride and I sent my invitations out April 20th with an RSVP date by May 31st. 80% of our guest list is from out of town.

If most of your guests are local, you should be ok, but just realize that some people make summer plans in advance, so if you haven't sent out save the dates for people to know it's your wedding day, there might be more nos than expected.

I agree that if you've not sent out STD's then you really should get them in the mail as soon as possible.

I too am a July 30th bride and mine went in the mail Monday AM.  The STD's I sent out mid-February and have discovered a number of people who forgot about them!  I have always heard 6 weeks in the norm, but I agree with dreamwinds that summer weekends get busy and filled up fast.

We set July 1st for our RSVP date since I need to have the number at least 2 weeks in advance for our cake; I figured this gave me time for follow up if needed.  I can also be a procrastinator, but wanted to make sure my family and friends mark their calendars and make their plans to attend!

Since the weather is suppose to be nice on Saturday, why don't you set a time for your picture, then as Nike says "just do it".  After that go pick up your paper and since it's suppose to be raining on Sunday, set aside a time that day to get started.  Tell yourself that you HAVE to have them in the mail by May 31st (which actually would be a good time).

I know for me setting small goals and sticking to them helps me make good progress.  Good luck!

I'm also a July 30th bride, and I just sent mine out yesterday.  BUT, that was only because I got them done early and wanted to be done with them (and I didn't DIY, I am so not crafty)  I was planning on 8 weeks and I have heard 6-8 weeks is standard.  My RSVP deadline is kind of early, July 1st, so I thought it would be ok to give people a head start.  I think you're still ok on time, just try to get them out by 6 weeks!  Good luck!

UPDATE: I went to Michaels and am now the proud owner of DIY invitation kits!!! I found some that will work nicely. Not 100% what I was going for, but will be great with a few finishing touches.

    Printing labels begins NOW.   =)
