Someone asked me if I was one of those Mom's who will/won't use baby gifts from yard sales!

I was kind of like..? The question caught me off guard.

She said, well not at a yard sale exactly. More like the mission type places where people drop off clothes and toys to donate, and write off on their taxes. A lot of them still have tags, etc.

WDYT?

I will/have accepted as a gift or "just because."  MIL works at one of those places and constantly picks up 50 cent outfits.  I've taken hand me down toys and clothes from anyone.  I don't see any issue whatsoever.

I personally don't give those as gifts.  I give them as "just because" I saw this and thought you might use it.
  • What do you mean, what do I think?

I think it's up to you. How do you mean? I mean, I managed to survive to adulthood off used clothing/toy items.

  • I'm curious if anyone gives those as gifts or asks somebody if they will. It was just random to be asked that I guess.

I've never given anyone gifts from there, but would smile and send a thank you note accordingly, if given a gift from a mission/salvation army/etc.

  • This post is pointless.  Similar to 99% of the other "contributions" you leave around here.  Please move on to first tri or at least just go back to lurking.

  • I will use any cheap/free thing I can. I am a tightwad. I bought Bacon's carseats and crib at WalMart, and never regretted it. I firmly believe that anything a child can use up or outgrow should be as inexpensive as possible, with the exception of crayons and food (Crayolas and as healthy as possible, please).
