Wedding Woes

Shut the front door.

OMFG.  You guys will think I'm ridiculous, but I *just* realized that I didn't get paid on 4/15 OR 4/30.

Our office admin is all "Yeah, there was an issue with payroll on 4/15. You might have a live check in my office. Can we meet about it tomorrow?"

WTF?!  That is a rather large check, coming in on a week when I had to write checks for, oh, about EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS for 2010 taxes and 2011 estimated taxes.

No wonder our balance is so freaking low. I was about to start eating ramen for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

I am livid, people. LIVID. It's one thing not to have paper for the printer. It's another thing entirely not to pay me on time. It's even more egregious not to pay me for WEEKS.

Oooooh, I hate these people and wish I could sever all ties with them.

  • Your office is rife with f*ckery.  Do you have a new job lined up yet?

I'm officially an independent consultant. Lots of hours with this company, plus a few leads on my own and a potential partnership agreement with my mentor, who is also doing independent work now.

I just need a few things to actually happen.  In the meantime, lots of self-marketing, which I am really horrible at.

    lol. Thanks. :)

Reminds me that I need to find something purple to wear to a potential client meeting tomorrow morning.

  • I can't believe they didn't notify you.  A lot of people would have things bouncing within hours of a missed direct deposit.   Did they only skip you or was it the whole office?

I just a friendly gal looking for options.

There was a message on 4/14 or 4/15 that there was an issue, some direct deposits might be late, and the company would cover any fees incurred as a result.

To me "direct deposits might be late" means "you'll see your deposit on Monday or Tuesday at the latest," not "there might be a live check in my office 2+ weeks from now if you remember to look at your statement and ask for it."

Obviously, we had the money in the bank, since we knew the tax thing was coming up. But I'm really glad we didn't end up owing more than that. Good grief.
