Wedding Woes

TGIF!

Whatcha into this weekend?

Today is more hot, hot, hot so I think we'll bust out the splash pad and let the kids get wet.  Tomorrow is the 60th anniversary party complete with chicken isht sandwiches.  Sunday church and taking the kids to a minor league baseball game.  6let has been talking about it for MONTHS.  He's got his glove set out and even pulled out his baseball underwear.  I hope he's not let down.  I have a feeling I'll be chasing M2 around a stadium for 9 innings.

Re: TGIF!

  • Tonight:  I'm meeting SIL after work for coffee and maybe dinner.  She's going to take the kiddo for one last sleepover with my nieces before they leave on Monday to go back to FL.

Saturday: Hopefully, we can get DH's car sold.  And then we're going to my IL's to hang out with SIL and nieces.

Sunday: IDK what's up for the morning, but the kiddo is going to play HORSE with Coach Stevens (coach of the Butler Univ basketball team and he's a SUPER cutie patootie) in the afternoon because my sister bid on it at a silent auction and won.  She can take 3 or 4 people with her and invited the kiddo.  I hope we can take pics of them playing and meet him.
  • 6fsn - if you're going to the minor league baseball game that I think you're going to, then I wanted to let you know that they have a splash pad area behind the outfield.   Maybe bring a swimsuit or change of clothes for the kiddos.
Also, you can bring in your own unopened bottled water.   We were there last weekend and ended up buying 3 bottles ($1 each) from some guy selling them outside the stadium.   I wish we had bought about 10.   Sooooo much cheaper than inside the stadium.   They're also fine with bringing your own food.   You just can't take a cooler in with you.
Also, also, their lemon shake ups are awful and disappointing.

So many cute kids in this post.

From the 6let and the mitt to kiddo and the HORSE...I am cuted out. ;)

Nothing crazy this weekend.  We have a bday party for my nephew who is turning 4, and then a party for BIL who is turning 33?  I think.  I can't remember.  It should be a good weekend.  I am being told the heat will subside tomorrow.  I will hope for that.

That's the one AF.  Thanks for the info!  I have a couple of insulated bags I'm sure I could get in.  I have a feeling M2 and I will spend a lot of time in the splash pad.

  • Today - I don't have gig kid, so I'm doing our Target shopping during the day.  We have a baseball game tonight.

Tomorrow - I hope we can do nothing.  We were supposed to spend the weekend at a baseball tourney championship, but it didn't work out that way.  And our trip to Sioux City will not be happening.  I'm not glad that Son's team did so poorly, but I'm glad that we don't have to travel so much now.

Sunday - Hopefully more of nothing.
  • working today, office is empty as it was yesterday - this means i'm getting all of my work done. hooray for small miracles.

i'm writing up a proposal to institute "office hours" - i'd like to force people to make an appointment with me or at least give me a heads up before they come by my desk. it's annoying to be trying to field a call while i'm tying to eat my lunch, with a guy standing outside of my cube waiting to ask me a bunch of questions that i have had no time to prep for. I have to drop whatever i'm dong when someone comes by to harass me, and it is a total waste of time.

we don't have plans for the weekend. We'll probably spend a lot of time in the pool, and maybe barbeque again.

Barbie - how does anything get done at your office?  It sounds so unorganized, like a big free-for-all.  I hope they understand why your proposal is needed.
  • We're supposed to go out of town to visit some friends and family, but with not having air conditioning in our car we're not quite sure we're up to making the trip.   It's supposed to be 100 today and tomorrow.   We talked about leaving after dark tonight, but there's no guarantee that DD will sleep in the car.   I don't know.   I just hate the heat and hate that it messes up my plans.   :::pout:::
  • AF-No.air.in.the.car?  I'd never leave the house in this weather.  Especially since it's supposed to hit 105 today.
  • Not sure what's up this weekend. May call up someone for a playdate, may not. Only eventful thing is DH has a guy night out. Which may mean once DD's in bed, may break our the olde SLR and do a little photoshoot for grins.

  • My summer cold is getting worse, our air conditioning still isn't quite cutting it and I really need to work this weekend, but BFF wants to come visit.  I told her to come on down, just be warned that I sound like a 90 year old smoker and to dress lightly.  I hope she isn't miserable and regrets the trip.

I just a friendly gal looking for options.

  • mrs.conn - this summer has been hell.
    - Our 2001 Jeep Cherokee does not have working air, but at least it runs well (currently. knock on wood).
    - Our 2003 Hyundai Elantra DID have working air, but does not run because it needs a new engine and I'm not paying $3000 to repair a car that I didn't even spend $3000 on.   It will soon be sold for scrap.   Seriously.   I just need to call this guy and make it happen.
    - We were borrowing a Nissan truck from my step-father.   A/C did not work.
    - My dad bought a new car, so he gave us his old one to drive for a while.   It is an older model Dodge Intrepid and it does not have working A/C.
    - We also had the option of borrowing my uncles car, that, guess what - - doesn't have A/C.

So, we're screwed.   And I do NOT want a car payment, so we'll be without A/C for a while it seems.

  • Holy crap AF!!  That sucks.

That's the one thing that's NOT wrong with DH's car that we replaced...it has working air, but no muffler, needs shocks, and the transmission may or may not be slipping.  Oh and all the 'Christmas' lights are on (ABS, Slip, etc.).   If it didn't need a bunch of  work, I'd offer to sell it to ya for dirt cheap.  ;)
  • Weekend plans pretty much depend on the weather. It's supposed to rain and be disgustingly hot and humid. Our AC has been leaking (I think a pipe burst behind one of our walls) and the maintenance guy is taking a look at it today. I really hope it doesn't have to be shut off this weekend.

My sister has asked me for help with her school work so there's that and H and I have recently gotten into doing puzzles together. It's probably going to be a lazy weekend.

  • Hopefully nothing too much.  It's suppose to be over 100 degrees all weekend.  The dogs are miserable b/c they want to go outside or for a walk and it's just too hot.

we're going to suffer through some batch cooking so that hopefully during the week we can rely on the microwave and cold meals more than anything.
  • Today I am taking a half day and meeting a new GP. He is going to get the laundry list of problems with both barrels. I really hope I like him.

H's car was totaled, so we will be car shopping afterwards. It's going to be hot as ballssacks and we only have what the insurance company is giving him to shop for a car. No car payments. It probably isn't going to be exciting, but I am trying to make as much fun of it as I can.

Saturday I am playing with my friend who is the dog trainer and Sunday we are having brunch with some friends. Hopefully we'll be driving the new car by then and all of this will be behind us.

  • Um, Min---when did your H get in an accident?  I am thinking I am completely behind, with my head in the sand or something.

    DURR.

Also, good luck with your GP.

Holy cow WW has gone through some cars this year!
  • I quit smoking, so I plan on alternately yelling at everything in sight and crying like a moron. And I actually have to work on Sunday - all three masses - so that'll be fun, especially the getting up at 6:30 part, considering I haven't been out of bed before 9 in weeks.

    Other than that? Nuthin'.

Bmom- I'm reading black and it's making me want to smoke again.
  • I always want to smoke, this is the problem. I quit for 5 years, and then met GayH, who was a smoker. We quit together: we have to, because our voices are really starting to suffer, and we want to impress our new director.

I just wish I didn't love it so much. I could beat the addiction part no problem if I could beat the "it's delicious and I love it" part.

  • BMom, all 3 friends who have used the electric cigarettes out there have said it's really helped them ease the transition.

It's taken me forever to get over missing the 'act' of smoking.  I still do from time to time, but it's getting better with time.
