S/O finances and debt

In 3 months, H and I will be completely short-term debt free (still have my student loans) and will be able to super aggressively save. I'm so excited!!

Welcome, TT. I just got to that point and enjoy it here. It is a great feeling. Now, be careful about canceling all of your cards and never using them again. Make sure to keep the ones with the longest line of credit and use them occasionally. Be sure to keep an eye on your interest rates....my Chase card changed from 7% to 13% overnight.

Yaayyyy!  It's such a great feeling.  We only have a couple of months left on student loans too.  I cannot wait.

Oh we won't cancel anything. (we have visas and amex since not everywhere takes amex). But we'll certainly be more careful.

Mrs. TT - It is easy to get careful once you have a zero balance. $25 here or there doesn't have much of an impact when you are carrying a balance. When you have a zero balance, you go from nothing to something if you charge anything, and nothing is better in this case. I don't even like using mine to keep the accounts active, but you have to for your credit score.

Min- I was very lucky not to have any.  DH had $40k, but has been out for 10 years.  I'm sure you have much more than that.

We do use them regularly, but we're not going to let them get out of control. We do want to keep a small balance on the amex for our credit scores (we both have excellent credit) and at some point we're going to get a mortgage.

My student loans can get more money thrown at them now too, which will be nice.

6 - Not THAT much more, but the balance isn't going anywhere because my payments are all going to interest. Now that the cc are paid off, I'm throwing more $$ at the student loans.
