Wedding Woes

Help from ladies please!!!!!!

My body works pretty much like clockwork and I counted, and I am in danger of having my period start on my wedding day!  Does anybody know of any ways to either delay it or induce it early?  I'm not on birth control right now, but I wondered if maybe I could start taking it again now and by June maybe I can skip it for that month.

Thanks!!!!

    You could get pregnant.

Please tell me you're not freaking out about starting simply because it's your period. Please tell me you're freaking out because you have PMDD or crippling cramps or turn into a werewolf or something?

Are your periods insanely heavy? Do you get bad cramps? I can't really decide if it's worth it for you to fill your body with chemicals that you previously thought were unnecessary just to avoid the possibility of getting your period on one particular day.

I started during the rehearsal, just before the rehearsal dinner. It sucked, but I still got married.

Why have you chosen not to go on birth control up until this point? Were you planning on using BC after your big dayyyy?

I wouldn't go on BC to avoid having a period just for your wedding.

Ask you GYN if stopping your period for your wedding (and no other medically valid reason) is a wise decision.

Stop eating. By the time your big day is here you'll be skipping periods left and right.

That or talk to the gyn, see if the BCP is an option and determine whether it's good for your body to skip.

Disclaimer: do not take this as medical advice- talk to your doctor/pharmacist

Keep in mind that some girls are sensitive to BC pills and experience side effects.  Some girls have to try 3 or 4 different brands to get the right level of hormone for their body.  Most girls, however, are less sensitive and don't experience these side effects.  (The side effects can include acne, fluid retention, reduction in sex drive, migraines....).  Also- don't go on the pill if you are a smoker.

BC is generally safe and many girls are on them for reasons that have nothing to do with fertility (ie. regulate cycle, improve acne, reduce the flow).  There are many generic versions out there for the regular strength- but the low dose, ring, and patch can be pretty.

Talk to your doctor.  In general you should be fine... but don't go on it & expect everything to work out perfectly.  It is still a drug that can cause side effects and it is impossible to predict which females will experience them and which ones will be fine.  Also be sure to talk to your pharmacist when you pick up your drug- he/she can tell you when to start the pack and what to do if you miss a dose!

Do you seriously not get why she'd be upset at starting her period on her wedding day?  I for one look like hell on the first day of my pewriod, to a point that no amount of makeup can help.

Meh. I started on my wedding day, and I'm incapacitated by cramps. I just drank a shitton, and I was fiiiiiiiine. The sex sucked, but we make up for that on the regular.

I talked to my gyn about this a couple of months ago. I'm already on BC and she suggested that I try skipping one period a few months out  to see how many body reacts and if it works and I'm supposed to start on or near my wedding to just skip it. Or she told me to skip it a couple of times to get my body on a track where I'm no where near my period.

That being said my gyn also once roleplayed my ovaries on BC so take her advice for what it's worth haha (I'd look for a new one but there's only so many people I want lookin at my hoo-hah!) TMI? Maybe!

There is no evidence that skipping periods is bad for your body. Periods are not medically necessary.

That being said, trying to skip periods on the pill oftentimes takes months to perfect.  Good luck.
