Wedding Woes

WWWD?

I just finished my 2nd interview and one of my refs let me know that she just got a call about me.

In the 2nd interview, they stressed it was important to them to have someone who was going to be there for a long time.  They've been through 6 secretaries in 3 years and they're all tired of it (would be a team of 4 people total).  They really did seem great and I think I would like the job.

I have a possiblity of leaving this town/position in two years.

Take it. It's 2 years down the line, and it's a possibility not a guarantee. Take the job and let them deal with it when the time comes. NOT YOUR PROBLEM.

I think two years is a longass time for a secretarial job (legal secretary, I assume?), and you'd be there for 18 months longer than any of their last 6 secretaries.

There's a difference between being there for 6 months and being there for 24 months.

2 years is a long time.  Now 2 months or weeks would be much different.

    Thanks for the advice.

I'm not sure I got the job, honestly, b/c one of the ladies I was up against had nine years of medical office experience.  And the doctor seemed nervous about my work history and my history of "leaving" after 2 years.  So I'm not completely sure, but it's good for my ego just to know at least I made it halfway through at this point.

you may be loyal to the job, but the job will not be loyal to you.

take it, and if you have to leave after six months, two years, whatevs -- too bad for them.

I wholeheartedly agree with hmonkey. My DH didn't leave a job when he was offered a better position elsewhere because he would have left without giving any notice. He didn't think that was professional and didn't want to burn any bridges. Well, the job he stayed with started abusing him, they were borderline fraudulent (mortgage company) and refused a vacation day request so he could be with our dying kitten.  "it's only a cat". As soon as he found another job he left, given them no notice.

So you do what's right for you, not for them. You're the only one who will look out for you.
