Placenta talk

It's going on in my ICAN FB group.

One lady said her frozen placenta was thrown out during her divorce.

Another said they finally planted it in the roots of a Japanese Maple AFTER 12 YEARS IN THE FREEZER.

Another lady simply replied "nom nom nom."

Re: Placenta talk

  • Mine ended up in medical waste where it belonged, I assume. I was asleep for that portion of the festivities.

  • Why keep it?  Isn't it for immediate use?

don't they use them for some sort of ting for people like burn victims?

I hope the hospital did that with it.
I was to "ooh, baby, lookit....OW, stitches" to care at that moment.

I had friends who had theirs made into capsules to consume for a while afterward. I don't know anyone who did placenta lasagna or anything.  I would have liked to bury it under a tree (we do have trees for both kids), but we forgot to ask.

H knew a woman at his last job who asked for them to help train cadaver dogs. I can't imagine how that conversation goes ... "Hey! Congrats on the pregnancy! If you aren't using the placenta afterward, could I have it when you're done?"

We don't eat other parts of our bodies, why the placenta?
  • 6 - I believe you're up next.  C'mon, take one for the team and save your placenta.

  • A lady on pregnant and heels are part of her placenta, in a smoothie. Her husband also wanted her to give birth by simply grabbing onto a tree and pushing. I filed those folks under 'weird.'

I am all for the old school twighlight sleep where you wake up with the baby.

I've been watching baby story on TLC in the morning, and every episode makes me want an epidural just for watching.
