I always chortle when kids make this comparison to their "destiny" or whatever.  Yeah, they lived happily ever after, for what, three days?

[QUOTE]i don't understand why this would hurt their feelings...is it because oyu have kept the engagement a secret for so long? time to be a grown up and just tell them. you made a grown up decision, and if their feelings get hurt then you have to be a grown up and deal with the consequences. how old are you that you are keeping secrets from your family like this?

Thank you so much for your nice, suportive comment. We are both about midway through collage, but we kept it secret due to the confusing and frustrating family dinamics. Besides we both come from large, close nit families.
I'm basicly wanting ideas on how we should go about telling everyone without causing rifts in the family.

Also I know Romeo and Juliet where only happy for three days, though it was their families that drove the knife in so many terms.

Do you also know how spell-check works? Or don't they teach that in "collage"?

Yes I know I'm a horrible speller but this is my second lanuage, I've got all of it done except for most the spelling.

As Zilla said, just sit down and tell them. And honestly, if you're mature enough to be married, you should be mature enough to tell everyone you're getting married. Though I will add that finishing college and having some time to start an adult life by yourself is a very good goal for before marriage.
