This was kind of a big week for Son

1.  He saw his first fight.  It was in the lunchroom.  I have no idea what you can fight about in 6th grade, but that's probably because I still see these kids as little kids when they definitely aren't.

2.  A girl in his class realized she forgot to do the assignment and flipped the eff out.  He said she was crying so hard and the teacher had to take her out into the hall to calm her down.

3.  HIS FIRST DANCE IS "TONIGHT".  I say "tonight" because it's right after school from 4-6.  He said he's going to just hang out with his friends and eat pizza and drink pop all night.  But he spent about 5 minutes doing his hair this morning.

1-he made it to 6th grade before he saw his first one?  I find that damn impressive.

(I think I'd seen them well before that)

2-Poor overacheiving girl.  Does she have a tiger mother?

Awwwww he's growing up.

My niece had her first hs dance this weekend.  They all looked just a touch awkward but so cute.  My other niece had a complete melt down over Christmas break last year.  She couldn't remember what the assignment was and even though she had 4 more days of break she was an absolute mess for a solid hr.

Yes, I have to remind myself that these kids have only been breathing for 12 or 13 years. They are drama llamas for sure.

Aww. I can remember my first dance but they made us wait until 8th grade. I love how he was being all cool about it but still took time to do his hair and such. Too cute.

Awwwwwww!  I remember my first dance like it was yesterday.   Good times.

Right there with you on #1.  I think of the kiddo as being 4 still.

On #2, some kid at the kiddo's school went in the bathroom last week and held his breath until he passed out.  I guess he was being teased or something.  The kiddo said he heard the kid was trying to commit suicide. 

#3...I'm glad we have another year before that mess starts.  The kiddo's in Intermediate School, which is like upper elementary.   He doesn't get the dances and all that other stuff, and I'm a-OK with that.

1) i'm surprised that he made it that far as well. we had a girl who broke a boy's arm in 4th grade during a fight. the bloodiest fight i ever saw was in middle school, in the cafeteria. (I think it was 8th grade) - kid and his BFF got into it  (who knows why) - and one kid broke his hand on the other kid's face. kid with the broken hand broke the other kid's nose and cheekbone. when they got back from suspension, they were BFF again. boys... *rolls eyes*

3) that's really exciting. wonder if anyone will actually dance.

Awww @ the hair fixing.  He has to look good while he is drinking that pop.

I almost saw a fight at Kroger on Tuesday.  It was exciting for me, too.
