Just got a party invite

It's BYOB, bring a covered dish, and bring meat to put on the grill.  Talk about zero effort, especially because they live in the theory to clean after a party not before.

  • That's not a party - it's a potluck picnic.

That's not even a potluck picnic.  It's bring your own stuff and sit in our dirty house.
  • Meh.  I've done that before...some people are just fckeffort about it.

  • Bring quarters in case you need to use the toilet while you are there!

just bring random meat? i would suggest a pint container of potato salad and 4 hot dogs. you may been to bring buns and plates and forks though, because even if they didn't mention it on the invitation, who knows if they have anything available for you to eat said meat with.

I have heard of these bring your own meat parties, but do not really comprehend.  It seems really gross to be carting around raw meat.  We will not be attending.
  • We were also invited to a bbq where I should bring my own meat and beer, oh and some who the host who was calling his portion a tithe! WTF. Also, this bbq was taking place after an outdoor event where I guess I would have pre-cooked the meat in my car for about 4 hours first. I didn't go but I heard someone bought just 2 hotdogs and 2 buns.

  • I've been to a few parties where you brought something to grill and the hosts provided fabulous sides.  Our vegetarian friends used to do this.  I think they felt awkward throwing a vegetarian party (which we wouldn't have cared about, we aren't required to eat meat at every meal), so they put out a grill and people grilled their own and they provided the fabulous sides. But asking you to bring sides & meat & BYOB???  That is not a hosted party.  That is a school cafeteria.
