Don't know if I have any advice, but what are you tying the bows on/for?

Usually when I make bows the way I tie my shoes, they go sideways. That's where you make one loop, tie the other one around it and then through the hole to make another loop. However, if I use the OTHER method, the bows have a better tendancy to stay straight (make 2 loops and tie them together).

Hahaha, I had the worst time trying to describe that without using "make a bunny ear.."

The Mickey Mouse ears method!  Make 2 Mickey Mouse ears then put one through the other and Ta-Da!  Mickey's ears are tied together!

Hmm, maybe try the ears method KST mentioned?  Otherwise, I got nothing. :(

Do the ears method. :D That's what Martha also suggests.

I suck at them too.  When I looked at ordering the ribbon for my favors, it was $16 for just the ribbon, or $50 for them to hand tie them into perfect little bows.  I decided that it was worth the extra money.  I just don't have that kind of patience.

I am late to this party, but absolutely do the ears.  Also, whenever I tie bows and want them to look perfect, I tie them *almost* tight, then loosen them by the ends a little bit to make them really even, then pull tight by the loops.  And once it's tight I always pull up on the loops, and down on the tails at the same time to make it look extra-good (see pic of BM flip flops in bio).  HTH!
