HUGE hands! Ring problems??

My fiance's hands are huge, and so are his fingers.  He hasn't owned or worn any kind of ring since highschool.  I was doing some looking online at different wedding bands and the largest size I could find (that told me the circumferance) was a 16 which was 77.4mm.  I found a few size 17, but I'm not sure what mm that would be and I doubt it comes close.  FI's finger measure about 87mm!  I know a jewler could answer my question, but I was just wondering if anyone knew here what this means as far as finding a ring for him?  Specially made?  Just enlarging a smaller ring?  Are we looking at a much pricier ring?

Sounds like a special order to me, which could cost more..

You're right not to talk to a jeweler. Ring sizes only go up to 17 and you'd basically just get laughed at for asking for something larger. Your only option is a twist tie or rubber band.

Oh that's great!  That will save us a ton of money!

I didn't say I wasn't going to talk to a jewler.  I just was wondering if anyone had any knowledge about it as it will be a bit before I'm able to make it in to a jewler to talk to them and I'll admit to being a bit impatient.  I thought maybe someone else had a fiance with larger than normal hands and might have some knowledge.  But thanks for the great idea, I'll definately take it into consideration, heck we could even buy some gold spraypaint, rhinestones, the whole nine yards to make it look flashy.

Nah, I really think that would end up being more expensive than a special order ring (and definately more than a spray painted rubber band).  If anyone's going to be getting any lipo it's gonna be ME!

No, no, he should totally buy a smaller ring and then diet to get into it, duh! I mean, brides do that all the time with dresses, and it totally works!

I have to say, that I'm at least getting a good giggle out of this thread.  Maybe it will help make up for the fact that I'm sitting here melting in my 16th floor office with a broken A/C.  Hmmmmmm, maybe I should make him come join me . . . saunas help you lose weight right?
