i watched part of this before going to sleep last night. (this might explain why my dreams of trying to escape an old timey railroad town and trying to dodge the stampeding cows.)
for those of you who haven't seen the show, it's about people who have too much stuff and keep it all. oh, and the people who enable them.
so last night, thise woman was the hoarder, and she was making her normal teenage son and husband live with all the stuff. awesomely, she kept all her stuff in garbage bags. like, her clothes were in garbage bags. surrounding her son's bed. in stacks 6 feet high.
she had 2-3 toaster ovens and 2-3 microwave ovens. the electricity was out in the kitchen, so they only use the microwave in the den for their food, which explains why the teenager looked really anemic.
anyhoo, the best part was when they interviewed the husband.
firsties, the husband looked like this:
remember: he's the sane one. the wife is the crazy one.
secondlies: he said, "i'n only here for my son. when he's strong enough and ready to leave home, i'm gone too!"
i just love that he was totally open about leaving ihoc (international house of crazy). i tv-high-fived him.
in summary --
hoarders: no.
animal hoarders: absolutely not
hoarding: buried alive: sure!
