Well F...I'm hating my job more and more. I work in research...definitely not my dream job, but I got my degree in biology, so I guess I'm doing what I went to school for. Anyway, they decided to restructure my position because a lot of people were complaining that they didn't like our title (research technician...call it what you want, it just means you're the lab b*tch). HR decided to do tiers so that there was room to move up in the job.
Well, we were supposed to get a letter in the mail on February first telling us each what our new title would be and what the new pay would be. They posted it online today though,so we can see it when we log in to look at our pay stubs and whatnot.
I got shafted and was put at the lowest ranking (lab assisstant...really? How is that any less demeaning that lab technician?). I got a very low pay raise compared to what they were hinting at with this new restructuring. How on earth can they call somebody who has been working here for 2 years an ASSISSTANT? It's crap...I'm ready to start looking for another job. Or at least take a "sick" day.
Also, I'm betting that the people who got higher titles are the ones with the masters degrees (which have MAs, not MS, so they didn't even do a thesis or any research assosciated with it) when the president of the university clearly stated that they'd be going off of work experience.
*end vent*
