Inexpensive water venues for under 100 people

So, I just got engaged this weekend! I'm so excited and now must begin the planning process!! I have always wanted a wedding near the water. I don't mind if its a lake or an ocean - I just want water involved. I am planning a beachy themed ceremony with a Pirate style reception. Our guest list will only be family and the closest of friends, so under 100 people. I've started looking at some places, but I'm looking for input from people on prices and places that you've seen/been to/planning on using.

THANX!!

Re: Inexpensive water venues for under 100 people

  • I guess I'd ask what is your idea of inexpensive?  Also, how far are you willing to travel outside of downtown Seattle?

I know a lot of people mention the Alki Bathhouse or Golden Gardens but it can get expensive depending on how much decorating you want to do on your own to dress the space up!
  • Golden Gardens sounds like it would be perfect for you, it's relatively inexpensive and is a great size for under 100 people.  AND there is a really fun/cute pirate-themed play area right next to the reception building.  I went to a wedding there last summer, and the couple took a lot of really fun photos with their wedding party on the pirate-themed playground!

  • I'd like to keep the venue itself around $2000, not including catering or decorations. My local family is from Tacoma, most of my fiance's family lives near Renton, and we live up near Everett. as long as we are within an hour drive or so, it would work for me!!
  • Bellingham has a couple AMAZING venues and it's within an hour's drive for YOU but I suppose not so much from Tacoma.. Thoughts on Bham?
  • We are getting married at Ray's Boathouse.  The room rental fee was about $1000 including linens, centerpieces & flowers.  To have the ceremony there would be an additional $600.

  • I'm gonna 3rd Golden Gardens. It sounds a lot like what you are looking for :) We've concentrated our efforts on a waterfront venue as well and really liked it. Our guest list just keeps getting bigger and I worry about space there.
We also looked into Mukilteo Lighthouse and it looked fun. But maybe too far north for your fam?
