Wedding Woes

Not fun anymore

When my fiance proposed I was so excited!! I was starting planning with great enthusiasm and umph. Now it's like what the hell is the point? Money is a little tight and it's making everything harder. My fiance comes home crabby all the time and claims he is tired and it makes it so hard to keep up a good attitude. How do I make this fun again?

Take a break. Get back to it when you feel ready. Even though there is a lot to do, you still have to live your life. Maybe take a week off from planning. Do something special for your FI when he's feeling tired and crabby. Plan a fun date night together if you haven't done that in a while, and don't talk about the wedding. I'm also dealing with a tight budget. I found it much less stressful when we finally cut the guest list and I accepted the fact that we can't do certain things. Remember, it's about marrying the person you love - keep that the main focus, not the financial side of things.
  • Not everyone can be OMGWEDDING 24/7 - not even you.  You'll burn out eventually.

Step back from the planning for a bit and go about your normal life.  Do what you'd normally be doing before you got engaged.

  • Every bride goes through this. Two of my good friends and I all got married within 4 weeks of each other, and we ALL went through the "if I have to research one more detail or look at one more wedding cake, I'll scream" phase. We all got sick of it. We all took a break and everything got done. It's time to take a break. After you feel the stress level go down and you and your fiance are functioning like normal, then start looking at pics of your dress whatever makes you smile the most. Then go on from there and get the planning done.
