Serious Stevia question

Why does she put it in EVERYTHING?  Applesauce doesn't need to be sweetened.  I don't understand the artificial sweetener crap- and yes I do think it's artificial.

Along the same lines, why did MIL put whatever the yellow sweetener is in her "chili" this weekend?

  • Her "chili" was hamburger, beans, tomato juice, and splenda.  She also gave me an awesome "vegetable soup" recipe.  Yes these need quotes.  Her veggie soup was hamburger, a can of condensed veggie soup, a can of peas, and a can of corn.  BLECH.  I saw it sitting in the refrigerator and almost vomitted.

    I was sick all day from that god awful "chili."
  • I sweeten applesauce depending on the type of apples and the liquid I'm using. But I use honey or sugar, not fake processed crap.

    Did your MIL think the splenda would cut some of the spice in the chili? I do not understand this concept. If you don't want it to taste spicy, why not just use less spices?
  • I don't know what the deal is, but clearly there are people out there that should not cook.  Period.
  • TD- there were no spices!  I do put brown sugar in my chili to add a different flavor, not to cut anything.
