Video Guest Book?

So I couldnt find a better place to post this, and I like what you guys have to say with other postings. :)

Im currently debating having a video guest book. The videographer is a friend of mine, and a broadcast production student (im in college too), and is doing everything for approx. $500, so I wont have to pay much extra for it.

The venue I picked has an open coat room attached to main room, and I am fairly confident I will not be needing this in July.

I think it would be super fun to set up the camera in the coat room, with some crazy props for people to leave messages for the FI and I in the wedding video. I also love the mad libs idea, so I was thinking of making a poster version that people could use as a "script" if they wanted.

Obviously there are a couple details that need to be ironed out, but I'd love to hear some opinions from all of you!!!

That's a cute idea! Is this new?? I've never heard of it before! (or am I behind? hmm.. lol) Will your venue allow you to use the coat room for another purpose?? I would double check just to be sure. Some places might be weird about ppl using specific spaces for other purposes. Either way, I don't think it would be difficult finding another spot to set this up.

I think it's a really fun idea! And I agree it would be good to set up a "script" or "finish the sentence" sort of thing, for something a little extra and to help out ppl who are shy or don't know what to say. Are most of your guests camera-friendly? I would think about that too. And in the case that a good portion are not, maybe have a small traditional written option on the side. The only thing, I'm not too sure about the props though. I think people would get sidetracked and want to "play"... and end up forgetting all about the message they were supposed to leave you. I would leave props for like a photobooth thing, where people are going to joke around.. not when they're leaving you and FI a special message. But that's just MO. :) So I would just consider some of these things based on your guests and their overall personalities. Love the idea though! Good luck! HTH :)
  • I think this idea is really great!  I like the "mad lib" style of script can be really fun especially for those who may feel put on the spot without having something to say to the bride and groom.  I'd check and make sure with the venue that placing a camera in the coat room is okay, but I don't see a big deal with it.

let us know how it goes!

My photobooth place has a package for a video option.  I really wanted to do it, but there's no chance I could afford it, lol.  I think it's a really great idea!  Just make sure they allow you to use the coatroom.  :)
