Honeymoon Question

How long are you waiting after your wedding to go on your honeymoon? FI and I think we've found the perfect cruise, but it leaves 6 days after our wedding. I kind of want to celebrate with him right away, going a day or two after... but spending a few extra days in another city will significantly add to our cost.

Is anyone waiting a few days? If so, what did you do in the meantime?
Anniversary

We are waiting for 4 months after the wedding. We're going ot Cancun and NOV is the end of the rainy season so prices are a little cheaper but the weather is still nice. Plus FI is a red head and can't do sunner heat in a tropical place.

I think that 6 days is totally fine. Especially if you think its the perfect cruise. I'd totally take it.

We're going the monday after our saturday wedding. I knew that if we didn't take it then, we probably wouldn't find time ever to go.. So I decided not to wait. I say 6 days is good. You'll have time to finish all of your thankyou notes, get your house in order, and say goodbye to all of your oot guests. i say do it!

we are taking three weeks off for the wedding/Hm and going on HM one week after wedding so that we can spend time with OOT.  Wedding is where we both grew up and FI hasn't been home in two years.

we're also planning on doing a cruise that leaves the following weekend after our wedding.

there was one that left the sunday after our saturday wedding, but i didn't want to be that rushed and freaking out about getting to the airport and to LA in enough time for our cruise.

Plus, 95% of our guests are from out of town, and we wanted to spend sunday and monday with them before they had to leave again.  our families are both huge, and it's very rare we get everyone all together, especially both sides. (this is really the first time some of our siblings will be meeting)  i wanted to relax and enjoy the moment.  then six days later, we'll go on the honeymoon and enjoy 8 days just us on the cruise.

Do what feels right for you and your FI.  HTH

We were in the same position but it turned out kind of nice for us because we wanted to stay a day or two to spend time with a lot of our family that came from oot. Some of them are coming in the day before or a couple days before so we wont be able to spend that much time with them.

So we leave two days after our wedding then we are going to spend some times in FL before boarding our cruise!

We're leaving the day after.  We wanted to be traditional, and I am a teacher, so I don't have time to wait because school will be starting soon.  So we'll stay in a hotel here that night & then leave for the HM the next day!  It will be an easier transition for our dog too, if we don't come home and then leave right away.  I think that like PPs said, do whatever is right for you guys.  So if 6 days works for you guys, go for it!  Just don't go back to work in between. =)

We're leaving the day after.  Ideally we wanted to wait a day to leave, but due to the circumstances, we ended up having to book it so we leave the next morning.  If we had to wait a week, I would have put it off for a few months before we went since I'm with PPs and I wouldn't want to go back to work in between the wedding and the HM but that's just me.  If it will cost you more for accomodations to stay in another city, does the cruise have options for a few months later?  My concern with having only a week in between was I would take a week off before the wedding then I would be back at work for a week then I would take another week off for the HM - just didn't seem very productive to me.

We are getting married this Saturday and leaving for our HM Sunday the 23rd. I wanted to have plenty of time to get rentals returned and everything cleaned up.

I think 6 days is totally fine if it's the perfect cruise.  I think it's outdated that the couple leave immediately after the wedding for their honeymoon.  In modern days, seems like the couple is working up til the day before the wedding, and go back to work the next monday.  Plus, those 6 days will give you all that time to write thank yous, spend some time together as a married couple, and just enjoy in the aftermath of your big day.  We are leaving the tues after our sat wedding and I would give anything to push it back a few days but we purchased our plane tix in Jan when they were crazy cheap!  If you really wanted a honeymoon immediately after, you could do a staycation and travel to a cool destination within driving distance for a few nights...you could probably score some honeymoon deals if you let them know it's for your honeymoon.
