Good news bad news at OB

Good news: baby is healthy and active and scheduled to be here 12-17.

Bad news: I can't get my fasting sugar level in check so I have to go on an oral medication.

Intersting news: I was out of the hospital in under 36 hrs with M2.  She says 2-3 days with this one.  Holy crap they better have wifi.

Re: Good news bad news at OB

  • ::hugs::  I couldn't keep my fasting numbers low either so I started glyburide at night before bed.  All my other numbers were great, so my doc wasn't too worried about the medication.

I'm glad to hear everything is ok.

  • Bad news is manageable, so I declare this all good news.

Boo for meds.  But at least it's temporary.

Phew. When you read "bad news at OB,' you certainly fear much worse than that. Meds suck, but I agree this all sounds like good news.

And I was in for 4 nights with both c-sections. It was glorious. And yes, civilization tends to have much better wifi.

boo for meds. does this have any implication that you'll need to stay on diabetes medication after the baby?
    yay for healthy baby.

and you are crazy, to all of you people who rushed to get out of the hospital. granted, my hospital was like staying at a hotel, but i could have probably used an extra day just to rest and have the nurses help. i was in no rush to go home and do it all on my own.

ETA - hopefully this hospital treats you well so you don;t ned to rush out.
  • Sorry DG.  I didn't even think about the wording.  I do have a little concern that I'll be at higher risk of diabetes in the future, but at least the numbers aren't TERRIBLE.

4 DAYS!! I would have gone nutty and probably punched a nurse if I had to stay that long.  I really just wanted to be left alone.  The hospital I'm delivering at really isn't much bigger than the one in BFE.  I would have been forced to go to the University hospital and a different OB if I'd gone for civilization.
  • Yay!  Now you can text you MIL and let her know your Christmas plans!!!  :)

Ideally, I would have wanted to stay in the hospital and let them take care of me and the baby for as long as possible, but those nurses drove me nuts and I left a day early.   I'm sure I would've punched a nurse (or LC) if I had been there any longer.
  • yay for the good, poo to the bad.

This. YAY for a healthy baby.

Have we named the third one yet?
  • I was in for 3 nights...One night of labor and then 2 after DefConn was born.  We had wifi and were still ready to get home.

But I did want to take the nurses with me.
  • I told off a couple of nurses.  They wouldn't get the eff out of my room and were having an inane conversation that had nothing to do with me or babies.  I told off the nurse that left my food in the hall for over an hour while it got cold.  I told off the lactation consultant.  I was the only patient.

No name yet.  I told DH we need to chat about it sometime.  My top contender is Andrew James.

in keeping with tradition, he should really be called Mandrew.

and, fyi, that's a great name and is on my list for non-existant-imaginary-never-gonna-happen kid's names.

I'm sorry about the meds, and I'm glad everything else looks good.  And I agree with you, I hated being in the hospital and left as soon as they'd let me.  If we have another one, I'm leaving as soon as it's medically possible.
  • Sorry about the meds, but I'm glad everything else sounds great. And by the way, this has been the fastest pregnancy EVER.
