Advice for a reception site anyone??

Hello ladies.  My fiance and I keep throwing around ideas for our wedding. Once we were thinking about getting married in San Diego (where we met) in two years, and now we're talking about getting married in Washington (where we live now) this summer. To keep it reasonably priced we are thinking maybe getting married in a court ceremony, and then throwing a reception with our friends and family. We are thinking there will be 30-50 people, a small party. but I have only been living here 6 months and don't know much about the town. I love it, and think it's beautiful -so ideally it would show off what the city has to offer (there's so much I know.) But do you ladies have any suggestions?Where are the local reception sites (we could even do our ceremony there too could it be accommodated) Whether it be a restaurant with a private section that can  hold that many people? Or an outside space? Or even just a building or somewhere that rents out space that we could have catered?

I would love to recommend our venue, Acalia Events and Receptions. It would fit your size perfectly. It's the home of Foodz Catering. They take care of food, drinks, tables, linens, tableware, and food displays. They've been very easy to work with and accomodating so far. Here's a link:

Or, if you're looking for something where you can have a little more DIY or hiring those services yourself, the first thing that comes to mind is Heritage Hall in Kirkland. I love this place, just a little too small for my own wedding:

I'm sure that you'll get a few more suggestions. Good luck!

When I think of very "Seattle" type of smaller-ish weddings I think of these two venues:

Top of the Market at Pike Place:

    And Lake Union Cafe:

I don't know much about the vendors (service, price, etc), but both locations are very "Seattle-entric."

I was looking for a rustic wedding site in-city...think lodge but within twenty minutes of downtown seattle. I found the most INCREDIBLE spot, but it is too small for my planned 150+ wedding. It is called "The Georgetown Stables" and it looks absolutely INCREDIBLE.

    Good Luck!

Oh they all look so fantastic. Austenrose the Georgetown Stables looks amazing. My family is from Pittsburgh, so I have a soft spot for old brick buildings, so those exposed brick walls really impressed me. Also, I saw on their caterer list that there is a nearby vegetarian place. Which makes me feel like its meant to be since I'm a vegetarian, and my MOH is vegan :)
thank you everybody for your suggestions. I have been showing them to my fiance, it's all so exciting

We had our wedding at ray's boathouse and it was totally reasonable. Fantastic food, great service and a good price.

they do all sorts of events in their Northwest room

Another good Seattle place would be Salty's on Alki.

Here are a few interesting ideas:

ACT Theatre (downtown) they have a space called the Bullitt. It's an old style cabaret space. They have four caterers that they work with, so food is real easy. It's possible to do the ceremony and then flip the room for a reception.

La Spiga (Capitol Hill) has a really nice upstairs loft space that can accommodate about 30-50 people. They'll do a wine reception and then seat everyone for dinner. It's above the restaurant, but feels like your own space. It's not a place where you could have a ceremony, but it's nice for a smaller reception afterwards.

There's also the Beach Club in Ballard - Apulent's space.

What's the budget you're trying to stay within? That may help narrow down some ideas.

We had our recpetion at hotel 1000 in downtown. You can have the ceremony there too! they have a nice covered terrace which I thought would have been cool for a ceremony so if it rains you can see the raindrops (very seattle) and if not, you get the sun! We ended up having a church wedding but the reception venue was fantastic! with 30-50 people you could do the reception on the terrace! Its on 1st and madison and the rooms are great and the service is even better!
