Gig Harbor/Tacoma - budget venues??? (cross post)

Hi,  I'm trying to help my sister find an affordable venue for their wedding and reception (or at least the reception) in the Gig Harbor (Peninsula) / Tacoma areas.  Does anyone have any recommendations???
(The venue probably needs to fit at least 130-150 people.)

Thanks!

Everyone's definition of "affordable" is different. Can you give us a price range? Also indoor/outdoor, things like near the water or garden, does the price need to include things such as linens?

Ditto KST - range and what they're aiming for is helpful in narrowing things down.

I agree, depends on what your definition of "affordable" is. But I would suggest, McCormick Woods Golf Course, Trophy Lake, Lakewold Gardens or even Rock Creek Gardens (closer to Graham/Puyallup). We are about to book Alderbrook out on the Hood Canal but i think it might a little more than what your sister had in mind. Good Luck!

She has not figured out a budget yet, but the truth is they have basically no money anyway...  Ideally, they'll find a venue that can provide the tables, chairs, dishes, glasses, silverware, etc...  (or a caterer who provides the dishes, etc.)  I would think a venue that costs less than $2,000 or so would be ideal.  (Food/catering would be additional if they provide those services.)

I know they would like to get married outside if possible (near water, garden, etc - some sort of pretty surroundings), but probably a place with indoor provisions would be nice since our weather is so unpredictable...

Any help is greatly appreciated!  Thanks!!!

Check the Landmark Convention Center in Tacoma http://www.tacomaslandmark.com/ - the Roof Ballroom paired with the deck would probably be a good option due to weather around here.

Also, if Des Moines isn't too far, there's the Landmark Event Center http://www.landmarkcelebrations.com/

There's also the Edgewater House in Olalla, although I must warn that a couple Knotties just had problems trying to book there for weddings next summer - apparently the owner isn't taking bookings which seems VERY odd. http://theedgewaterhouse.com/

I know there's the Brown's Point Improvement center which a couple Knotties just got married at and is supposed to be quite nice: http://www.brownspoint.org/

And then there's the Stilacoom town hall which holds up to 150 http://www.townofsteilacoom.com/activities/facility_rentals/index.htm

She's actually looked at the Edgewater House and likes it - but the same problems.  Plus, apparently this is her first time doing weddings this summer, so it seems like it might be wise to wait - she might need to work out some kinks.  (It's down a LONG dirt road, and no parking...)

    Thanks for your help!

I second the browns point improvement club. It's gorgeous- right on the water. Next to it is a public park where we got married. You get the venue from 9am to 1am. (Music has to be off at midnight) Included in the rental is the hall, tables, chairs, and plates for 150. You can self cater (they have a full sized kitchen). You can have all types of alcoholic beverages. They have no required vendors. It worked really, really well for our wedding. And best of all- it's only $1525 with a refundable $300 damage deposit. If you want to see pics you can see some on our photographers website- jennygg.com.

    I second trophy lake!

That was our second choice venue. It is really resonably priced and it does have its own dishes and linens and catering. It has a beautiful garden/waterfall and a nice little outdoor covered area for the reception. The woman who does the weddings there is extremely nice and very helpful!

Check out the Metro Parks rentals here: http://www.metroparkstacoma.org/page.php?id=118
Her group might be small enough to fit into places like the Pagoda.
