Deck Verdict

**O-Face**

Not like anyone is terribly excited.

BUT.

We will NOT be doing maintenance free. Ha.  Just deck boards cost $4500 or so.  That is compared to $850 for green treated lumber.  THAT, makes its own decision.

Also, it is kind of shocking to learn that a local business is only 10% more overall then a larger pretty regional retailer.  We will buying from the local business, because I said so.

Also ALSO, FIL is an idiot.  He suggested just buying bagged cement and using that for post holes. That would be nearly 65 bags of mix...and someone has to mix it...around $260.

OR we could have it delivered...in a truck for $210.  Hmm...hard decision.

Yay!  I want pics, because I love home projects. FYI-  Local businesses will sometimes negotiate a bit too.  A lot of times I'll ask for 3-10% discount for paying cash instead of cc.  Since they have to pay the cc fee anyway sometimes they'll go for it.

H will probably try to wheel and deal, he's good like that.  There will not be pictures of completed projects for probably 10 weeks.  This is sad and scary all at once.

The last time FIL suggested something like that...he bought himself a small cement mixer.  Which is what would happen in the Mr's family :-P

FIL also has a cement mixer, but it would seriously take at least 32 times of emptying 50lb bags to equal what we need.  It just doesn't make any sense...monetarily or work wise.

I'm very much a DIY person...but damnit, there are times it's worth the cash to NOT have to worry about something.  FIL is an idiot on this one.

I mean, I'm the person who would drive the truck and buy 47 bags of topsoil myself (ok, maybe no more than 12)...but at the same time, I pay someone to deliver water softener salt because for $.25 more a bag, someone brings it and carries it into the basement for me.  winner winner, chicken dinner.
