Wedding Woes

Wedding Date Woes!

My fiance and I have been dating for over a year, and we both want to get married as soon as possible. His family lives in Texas (we are in Georgia) and he finally called them to ask if they could make it for an August wedding. Due to some other obligations, they can't. I am starting grad school at the end of August and won't have any free time until December to get married. I have always dreamed of a spring/summer wedding. It looks like we will either have a winter wedding or have to wait another year. Cry Also, because of my beliefs and future career (I am going to be a minister) we won't be living together or having sex until we get married. ARGH! What to do? How to be patient?

They have obligations throughout the entire month of August?  What obligation do they have that's more important than their son's wedding?  Really, that's just dumb.  However, I'll give them the benefit of a doubt...

What about doing it earlier in the summer?  Where I'm from, engagements are typically 3 months, and people are able to pull off some great things in that short amount of time.

You said that you were starting grad school at the end of August, but would Labor Day weekend be a possibility?  It's close enough to August that you could have 97% of stuff planned and done before school started, and early enough in the semester that you won't be bogged down with tests and finals.

As MinM said, Spring Break is also a possibility, although that's another year.

Is a destination wedding a possibility?  You could get married in the winter, yet go to Florida or some other warm place where it won't feel like winter.

I really do think that it would be easier if you got married sooner rather than later.  I respect your beliefs and wanting to wait until marriage to be intimate, but the temptation will get mighty strong the longer you wait.

    Good luck!
