Major Bummer

So I found out I will have to have surgery on my shoulder :( It is scheduled for March 19th so at least I'll be able to go out for St Patrick's Day.  My doctor told me that he will make sure I'm as good as new for the wedding (minus a little bit of movement in my shoulder). So I hope everything goes well and we can keep planning for the wedding like normal.

Re: Major Bummer

  • That is a major bummer. :( I'm sorry! Do you have insurance at least?

  • Ugh! Good luck and godspeed!
  • :-\ I hear shoulders aren't as bad as knee - so speedy recovery to you!

  • Right now it is going to be a scope so a very tiny incision. He is positive I tore my labrum which is a ligament that holds your shoulder together from what I understand, but I may have done something else inside that will require them to make a bigger incision on the outside.  I won't be able to raise my arm over my head for 4-6 weeks, but I haven't been able to do that for a few weeks already.  I do have insurance (thank goodness).
  • Good luck with the surgery! I hope you have a speedy recovery.

  • oh no, this doesn't sound fun at all! good luck with the surgery, we will be thinking about you! as much as shoulder injuries suck - at least you can walk, get around, and take care of most things that you need to!
  • Good luck with your surgery! I'm currently recovering from lower leg surgery. Hopefully your scope goes well and the doctor doesn't need to do much else.

My advice: lots of ice, rest, and take your painkillers on a regular basis! There is nothing worse than being uncomfortable! Then start any physio when the doctor says it's safe!

My thoughts are with you! Here's hoping for a speedy recovery!
