Wedding Woes

Baking question

I am not a "wingit" kind of baker so humor me.  My banana bread recipe calls for 1/2 cup walnuts.  I forgot I used all of my walnuts for carrot cake.  For some reason I have 3 half open bags of chocolate chips (I blame DH.  Who else would put have a bag away?) and I have almonds.

Sooooo can I sub the walnuts for chocolate chips? How much?
Or should I use the almonds?
Or bag the whole thing and freeze the bananas until next week?

Take this advice with a grain of salt, as I am not a baker unless it's from a box, but *I* would probably throw in 1-2 bags of chocolate chips. Of course, I'm a sucker for the combination of the two (banana and chocolate). If you used the almonds, I would think they would need to be crushed up, since they are harder than walnuts. The extra work would also entice me to do the chocolate chips. But again, I'm not a baker! :)

Add the choco chips :)...either same amount as the walnuts or 1.5x more for good measure. IMO almonds are kinda hard for including in soft items like banana bread. Better for harder items like cookies. OMG I'm totally going to have to make some banana choc bread now.....mmmmmmmmmmm

Now I just want to eat a bag of chocolate chips for breakfast.  And I can't.

    Chocolate chips it is!

Seriously taw.  I don't know how DH put the bags back and never went to eat them.  If I had known there would have been snacks of peanut butter and chocolate chips!

make sure you pour some dry ingredients over the chips before adding them.  keeps them from sinking to the bottom of the batter.

i don't like bananas, so for me, i'd take out the bananas and just make chocolate bread.

This. When I added chocolate chips to CW's bran muffin recipe, they all sunk to the bottom before the heat set the rest of the batter.  On WW advice (probably hmo), I did this, and it worked amazingly well.

    That's going to be awesome.
