Bump name post for tomorrow

http://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/35755351.aspx

Not just the OP, but the replies followed. "Niamh but it's Celtic, so it's pronounced Neeve"; "Ciara but it's pronounced Kee-ra".

I wanted to respond, but I think I'll get mocked for naming my son "James".

How does Banner Neveah translate to banner of heaven? Neveah is just heaven spelled backwards. Have people progressed from made up spellings to made up translations?

    Oh my heavens.

"banner of heaven where beauty and God reside" is the DUMBEST thing I have ever heard. You can't make up a name and then make up a meaning for it. What is a banner of heaven, anyway? Because it sounds like "one who prohibits or forbids" heaven. What then?

I know that "Under the Banner of Heaven" is an excoriation of the FLDS "church". Maybe they're Mormons?

Ciara pronounced Kee-ra actually makes sense; I've known several Ciarans (or Kierans or Kiarans), which is pronounced Kee-ran. They'd better get used to pronunciational disappointment, though.

Where is Hmo? Who wants to guess these people with their Celtic and Gaelic names have less than a quarter Irish in them?

Has anyone else noticed that Neveah is actually not  'Heaven' spelled backwards? It's 'Haeven'. Wow....I'd punch my parents for naming me that, if they thought it was Heaven spelled backwards, because not only would I have a $hitty name, but it would also be WRONG.

I've always thought, "Wouldn't the opposite of Heaven be Hell?"

A girl I went to college with named her daughter Neveah. Everytime I see pictures of her on FB I cringe.
