Who's using a band?

We have narrowed down the selection and contacted the potential bands for information but....where do we go from here?  We like all the bands that we've selected and none of them perform publicly. They have sample music on their website, but we have no idea how well they will be with a crowd. We're just kinda in a rut now and don't know how to decide. Advice?

What did you look for when selecting a band? What made you decide to go with them?

They don't do "showcases"? Or can they arrange for you to see them at a private event (with permission from the hosts)?

We had a band but I wouldn't have booked one without being able to see them live.

I think that you can ask for a showcase or ask them for references..

I'm not sure I'd book anyone if I couldn't see them either. GL!

I got a recommendation from a friend who used the same musician and i also youtubed him.  It was still a difficult choice but planning from 3,000 miles puts a bit of a damper on vendor choices.

We're using a jazz trio, not a full-on band, and alternating between jazz sets and Ipod mixes.  I have never heard them live, but the main guy is a friend of FI and has been in the Seattle jazz scene for years, so I am just trusting the universe!

Thanks for the advice, I guess I'll ask for a showcase (whatever that is) or to see them at a private event...
