Wedding Woes

mothers' day

do you have a standard go-to gift for mom, or do you get her something different every year?

we decided to just send flowers to both moms this year. Mom will get hers Thurs (casue she has the day off and they won't sit outside all day) and MIL will get hers when she gets back from China in a few weeks.

[QUOTE]we usually take her out to diner or lunch. it's usually a PITA. this year, i am choosing to stay home alone and do nothing. i may send flowers. she loves things that i feel are a waste of my money. <strong>not that i have issue wih flowers, but i just prefer practical gifts.

us too. i was going to make a photo book of Wolverine for them, but didn't have the time. We're thinking that will be their Christmas present - a book of her first year.

I am a crappy card-only kind of daughter.  Actually, for the past several years I have given her time instead - usually helping in the yard for a weekend.

I usually do something different each year.  This year, I have a picture frame that holds 5 photos - one 8x10 in the middle, and four 4x6's in the corners.  I got a picture on Easter with me, my sister, my 2 nephews and my mom that I'll put in the middle, and then do pictures of her with each of us individually in the other spots.

I always do something different for the moms.

This year I got an awesome frame for my mom, and a necklace with her kid and grandkid's names on it for MIL.

MIL and GMIL will be in Michigan for a Bar Mitzvah for Mother's Day, and my mom will be in town. So it'll be just about mom and I. DH has been planning.

Ugh.   Mother's Day came way too fast.   We have big family drama surrounding MOther's Day and Father's Day right now.   So far, I'm the only one taking a stand against it and I'm just waiting for the fallout.

ETA: So I haven't even thought about gifts yet.   I had planned on doing photo books, too, but have run out of time.

Flowers and cards. I can't really do anything else since I am not there. I usually send several cards: one from just me, one from me and H and one from the dogs (hers, not ours). This year I bought MIL a card from us, thinking H would get one from just him - but no, he decided the card I got would suffice. I don't know why I didn't anticipate this outcome.

This year I'm not doing my usual, and I'm sure she will notice.

I got her some cute bracelets that make a lot of noise and a gift card. Have a Happy!
