Tipping

I know this pops up every now and then, but I'm a bit fuzzy still on some parts of it.  I know we should tip the photog assistant, but what about the DJ's assistant and the DOC's assistant?  And how much?  The amount I'm really fuzzy on.

I have never heard of tipping those people because they charge a flat rate. But I think if you feel like you want to tip them you could throw 50 buck or so their way

ditto pp. i tipped photogs assistants cause i saw a lot of their face... but everybody else i just tipped the main person...they can distribute however they'd like..

and for those who thought this post was about tipping in genearl (like me), i pulled up the links that have tipping "guidelines":

I've heard the opposite--that you generally tip assistants because they're making much less (and usually an hourly rate as opposed to the main person who presumably gets a flat fee [assuming they own the business]).

I would prob do $50 to each, but I'd play it by ear. For instance, if the DOC's assistant is sitting around doing nothing, then obviously I wouldn't tip her. =)

That's what I recall hearing about assistants and figured $25-50 for each one depending on what all they do, how long they're there, etc.  but was leaning towards the $50 since most all of them will be there for at least several hours.

So, wait... you're supposed to tip the officiant even if they're already charging a fee?  Ugh. This is getting way more complicated the further into the planning I get!

Umm...I wouldn't tip the officiant if I was paying a flat rate/fee, but that's just me.  We will be "tipping" ours (giving him a gift card) but that's because he's actually a friend of the family and is doing it for free. :)

Hm.  So lucky for me that most of our vendors own their own businesses, so recommendations and thank yous will do.  But I would consider tipping the two assistants we'll have worked with - WC and photog.

    Thanks for the links Jenn!
