July 2012 Weddings

positive thoughts, please - my purse was stolen.

Someone stole my entire purse out of my office this afternoon.

All my ID cards, money, makeup, credit cards, car keys, apartment keys, everything.

Freaking out and feeling violated.

Everyone at my office thinks our office is safe and that I just misplaced it. I didn't.

Thanks in advance for the positive thoughts, ladies. This sucks.

  • oh no! I'm sorry to hear that!! :(

I'm sure you cancelled everything by now, but just make sure you do and report everything as stolen. What a pain in the ass!

Annndd, how does everyone think you just misplaced it?! Keys is something you misplace, not an entire purse!!

  • holy crap!!!! I can't believe people!!  You canceled all Cc's and what not right??
  • That really, really sucks. I don't feel like our stuff is safe at our office anymore ever since somebody has been stealing our food and hiding them. People are just plain stupid.

I like to lock my purse in my car trunk. Don't know if this is smart, but I feel safer doing this. Maybe you can start doing this??

I hope you got everything cancelled. It's PITA, seriously. People need to grow up.

  • Oh No that is awful!!  I know you didnt misplace it but I do hope that is all you did :) Postive thoughts your way!!
  • ohhh no that totally sucks! I always leave my purse on my desk and thankfully nothing has happened. I even leave my laptop out and unlocked over night and on the weekends. But our office has good security (cameras, access cards, security guards).

I did have my purse stolen in college once. I got it back, minus the cash and cell phone that was in it, but at least I didn't have to get a new driver's license and all that. Maybe I hope you can at least recover the purse. So sorry this has happened - I know you did not need the extra stress right now!

  • omg that's horrible! I really can't believe people sometimes. Does your office have any surveillance cameras? I hope it gets returned to you with everything in it ):

  • Oh no! That is awful! I am so sorry you have to deal with this right now. I would also feel very violated.

I was actually talking with FI's parents last night about what to take traveling, etc. FI's mom suggested making a copy of everything in your wallet front and back (and of your passport front and back when you travel). This way, it makes it easier should you lose your wallet or it gets stolen. I had never thought to do that, but it makes so much sense!

    Good luck with everything!

  • Oh no this is horrible. Hopefully your purse shows up, even if some of the items are still missing. I'm so sorry you have to go through this.

This is odd because I got in my car this morning (I park in our driveway) and my glove box was wide open and a tray between the two front seats was moved. I only ever move the tray to get to the passenger side of my car. I forgot to lock my car last night because I was carrying a bunch of groceries into the house. Fortunately I didn't have a single valuable item for the thief to steal and I don't keep a spare set of keys or money in my glove box.

I feel stupid for leaving my car unlocked, but I still feel violated and the thief knows where I live so she/he can come back whenever to see if my car is locked. :(
  • Oh my gosh, I am so sorry to hear that.... that is just horrible! I will keep you in my thoughts and I hope it gets returned to you somehow!

  • WTF.  Maybe it was that loud-mouth d-bag in the office next to yours.

What a horribly violating feeling when your stuff is stolen.  Our house was broken into last year so I know how you feel.  :(
