I am getting some serious old lady eyebrows. 

My eyebrows have always been sparse.  I pluck the strays.  And then sometimes I use a pencil to fill them in.  I think I need lessons on this because I've seen a few pictures lately where it looks like I drew little brown rainbows over my eyes.

I am obsessed with eyebrows, mine really.  I shave my face (yes, still) and I also will get out one of those little hand-held old lady mirrors and sit in natural light and stalk hairs.

Another sickness.

Maybe use powder instead of a pencil, but I am by no means a knowledgeable makeup person.

I would recommend powder as well...even just a matte/ashy color will work.

I have tried powder, but it didn't seem to stay put. I have the same problem with eyeshadow, so maybe it is just because I'm working with products I bought 10 years ago.

I go back and forth with the powder vs. pencil. But I do think that if you have sparse eyebrows, you should do the powder.  Pencil is too harsh for sparse eyebrows.  

I have a special brush for my eyebrows too.  One end is a super fine, small stiff brush and the other end looks almost like a mascara wand.  I put the powder on with brush, set with the wax and use the mascara wand to brush it in the shape I want.

Here are my recommendations:

Revlon Brow Fantasy (oh lala, right?)

Maybelline Define a Brow (go for dark blonde)

Those are two I really like....the first has a colored gel that works pretty well.  The second has enough wax that it will help your brows stay in place.  If all else fails, you can take a brow brush, spray with hair spray and brush through after you fill.  When filling, use light strokes that are basically like you're drawing hairs on your face.  Not fill in the blank or dot-to-dot.

Zsa, get the powder that has a setting, (i guess it's) wax.  That really helps keep it on.

I like L'Oreal's Brow Stylist Professional pencil - - it's a powder in pencil form.  I don't know how they do it, but I like it much better than just a normal pencil.

If you're looking for something to tame your eyebrows (mine can get long and unruly) I like Ulta's brow pencil that has a wax pencil on one end.

Ditto the brow brush with hair spray, except I use a cheap/free toothbrush (maybe one I got on a plane or at a hotel once?). Works great.

And stop going to makeup parties with the old lady sorority.

Whatever my threading place uses seems to hold pretty well. It doesn't even sweat off when I go to the gym afterwards.

I rarely wear makeup, but when I do, it seems like my MAC eyeshadow stays pretty well. Not as well as whatever Egyptian magic the ladies at the threading parlor use, but enough.

Thanks, ladies.  I will be scheduling an appointment for connect-the-dots eyebrow tattoos. 
But seriously, I never knew about the wax.  Adurrr.  That would make a difference.
