Ceremony and no reception?

My fiance and I are really tight on our finances. Not to mention that my parents are also working on a tight budget. Oh and his parents...they're too busy planning his sister's wedding 3 weeks after ours! (That's a whole other long story-she got engaged a week after us!!!!) Anyways, we really want to have a nice ceremony on the beach and we have found the PERFECT location. Our problem now is finding a decent reception location and not getting depressed or stressed everytime we look at the cost of things!

In order to save on the cost of things, is it acceptable to have a ceremony now and then a reception sometime later or at least a very exclusive reception with just our close friends and family?

HELP...any suggestions?

Re: Ceremony and no reception?

  • why don't you just either have a very intimate ceremony and reception, or have a picnic on the beach after the ceremony and dinner with close family later...
  • You can't invite people to your wedding and not feed them. Cake and punch counts. Or appetizers and drinks. It doesn't have to be fancy. But you must feed your guests.
