we were driving home on Sunday evening around 7pm and got caught in traffic due to what was possibly the most random parade ever.
we were driving southbound on a 7 lane road while the parade was running in the 3 northbound lanes. (3 lanes north, 3 lanes south, center turn lane). Southbound lanes were moving for about the first mile, but we got stuck in the last half mile until the end of the parade.
the audience turnout was insane - people were packed on both sides of the road for at least a mile and a half to watch.
it was the "parade of lights" so all of the participants had their "vehicles" decked out in christmas lights and decorations. Among other things, we saw: Ambulances, firetrucks, police cars, people on horses (that were strung with lights), "floats" on flatbeds, cars and trucks, "Honda Racing" 18-wheeler, and guys on riding mowers.
Wolverine *LOVED* the horses, and after they went past, she kept asking where they went./what happend to them.
i found out later that our daycare had a float in the parade, and it was to benefit the TX Volunteer Firefighter Relief Fund. This was the 15th year that they did it.
