Wedding Woes

Grrrrrrr

Our insurance is hinky.  I know this and have been pretty dilligent about going where I need to go and making sure things are covered.  When I had my ob nurse intake she also did a physical and took a couple of cultures.  I wasn't paying attention and they sent them to the hospital lab that is not in network.  Now I'm getting smacked with a $200 lab bill because they sent it to the wrong place.  I have a call into the office, but I'm annoyed at myself for not double checking where it was supposed to go and them for not seeing it in the notes.

We've also got a $400 bill for tree removal from the storm.

at least you shouldn't ultimately be responsible for this. My TX OB did the same thing - it was a bit of a pain to sort out, but the office since the labs to the wrong place, so they need to cover if the insurance company won't.

In my case, the insurance company just covered the charges - I called them when i got a bill from the laB, and told them that they needed to sort it out with the doctors as it was the office's mistake.
  • Don't even get me started on PPO's and lab work. That happened at the OB's office, but at least there was some contractual obligations that made the lab group write off the part that was not covered. The hospital...well that was a cluster of another level. Hospital stay was totally "covered". Lab work and audiology...not so much.

I have to even watch what COUNTY I have things done in.  If I'm in one county I have to use all University affiliated stuff.  If I'm out of county I have a little more leniency.  I had the cultures done out of county, but they sent it to the OTHER county and the WRONG hospital.  How should I know this crap?  Why didn't they send it to their own hospital that was in the right county and would have been covered.
