Wedding Woes

Menu Help

I'm throwing a cocktail party on Saturday before Midnight Mass for all the cool choir people. Roughly 4 hours. So far, my menu includes:

- Mini-quiches
- Brown sugar bacon chicken bites
- Stuffed mushrooms
- Veggie Tray
- Deli tray
- Booze
- Christmas sweets

I have two questions: Would you prefer sausage-stuffed mushrooms, or French onion stuffed mushrooms?

And: Should I add mini ham-and-cheese sliders?

Roughly 10 people are coming. I would not make a ton of sht - all my recipes make 2 dozen pieces or less, but of course I can make more if something sounds better.

Re: Menu Help

  • i always vote more of few things -- as in, make lots and lots of a few good recipes, rather than lots of things.  it's easier to refill trays, and it makes you focus on making them really good.

  • What's in the quiches?   Are there vegetarians?

I'm inclined to say just the mushrooms stuffed with sausage, but to add a cheese tray.
  • Do people eat deli trays? I would ex that and add more desserts. Yum, desserts.

  • Look at you getting all social. Good for you.

  • Personally, I would ditch the deli try but that is only because I get weirded out by room temp grocery store meats and cheeses. These look yummy- http://www.centsationalgirl.com/2011/12/crowd-pleasin-stroganoff-meatballs/. And I like the idea of the sliders
  • Nola, the amount of desserts is ridiculous already. 4 types of fudge, cheesecake truffles, peanut butter balls, salted caramel shortbread, 5 types of cookies. I did all that last week before the official choir party.

Shoot, I already bought a deli tray because I didn't want to cheap out on cheese, but I can't afford the good stuff. But it's just a little one, and I can recycle it for Christmas day if no one eats it.

AFAIK, there are no vegetarians. Bacon and carmelized onions in the quiche, but I could just do the onions. I just figure they're fast and easy and freezable, and I still have a million eggs from baking.

  • I missed the deli tray.  I'd get rid of that too.

    I love that you're throwing a party.
  • OK, I'll save the tray for BFFs on Christmas day and add sliders.

It is during dinner time, so I want to provide enough savory stuff that people don't feel like they missed dinner, especially since we're going to be at church till 1 am. And also, I don't think we should all show up to Mass completely wasted. Just a little wasted.

  • Eh keep the tray, just consider pulling it if it starts getting warm.
  • HEY! For those of us who do no eat sweets....we like the deli tray.

  • Since it's bacon quiche, bacon chicken, and ham sliders go with onion mushrooms.  Since you already bought the tray go for it.
  • Keep the tray, onion stuff the mushrooms, and totally go for the sliders. Ron Paul 2012.
  • Are you inviting the whole choir or just the cool kids?

I just a friendly gal looking for options.

  • Just the cool kids, Zsa. We certainly don't want a repeat of the other party, where socially-awkward-to-the-point-of-autism girl followed us around the room trying way too hard to get us to like her.
