MIL and rice pudding - a small funny

She's still going on about the rice pudding that wasn't served at the baby shower. MIL was over Tuesday night for dinner. As she's helping with dishes she's asking H why it wasn't served. H, "Becasue whoever was setting the buffet, FORGOT."  I asked why she didn't say anything at the time or get the puding out herself. Afterall, she has no problem going into our fridge any other time.

MIL could tell H was annoyed that she was still bringing up something so stupid and started saying in English, "Is okay, is okay." Which set H off in the brief rant in Portuguese, "Then why still bring it up?" As he's saying whatever he's saying he's making the yappity yap gesture with his hand and then says "Zip it!"

She did the "Oof sorry" thing she does when she riles up H then acts all "What?" about it.

    I love your MIL.

Did she have my fave stank face during your shower?

She did when she thought we didn't tell anyone she brought the crib, and didn't bring out the giant, brown box it was in for people to ooh and ahh over. Her old lady friend got in on that action too.

My mom brought mac & cheese to my bbq last weekend.  Some people had already started to eat when she asked where it was.  I immediately thought of your rice pudding.  I had completely forgotten that the mac & cheese was in the fridge.  So we quickly attempted to warm it up and put it out late.  She had been helping all along, so she had to have forgotten, too, or else she would have gotten it out earlier.

Thankfully she would have not held a grudge, though.  She may have been suspicious of my intentions, but she would have been happy to have leftovers to take home so that she wouldn't have to cook for a while (I get my dislike of cooking from her). .

I think MIL is using her selective memory and conveniently ignoring the fact that she forgot too. And why decide on THAT day that it's not okay to go into our fridge?

Any other day we can't leave her alone in a room if we don't want her to start snooping because she's convinced we can't do our own laundry or shop for our own groceries.

Funnny.  I love how she's all "it's okay" and your H is all "Obviously NOT!".  Oy.
