Processional music: what are you walking down the aisle to? :)

hey everyone!

trying to pick out songs and wondering if it would be weird to only have one song for both me and the bridal party to walk down the aisle. since my walk won't be very long, i feel like its silly to start a new song because it wont even get to the chorus by the time i get up there. but i can also see that having your own song makes the bride's entrance more grand..

are most people having 2 songs- one for the bridal party and one for the bride? what are your thoughts on just one song for everyone? Has anyone picked out their processional music yet and could offer some fun contemporary song suggestions?

TIA

I'm thinking one song for the WP, and another for me.  Ideas below are also in my bio under Music.  But I'm currently leaning toward Canon in D for me.  :)

Love songs - may be used during ceremony or reception
I Wanna Know What Love Is - Foreigner
All You Need Is Love - the Beatles
    Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley
By My Side - Ben Harper
    Precious Love - Van Morrison
La Cienega Smiled - Ryan Adams
I'll Stand By You - the Pretenders
    Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton
Someone Like You - Van Morrison
You're The First, The Last, My Everything - Barry White
Love Is All Around - The Troggs
More Than A Feeling - Boston
Bring It On Home - Little Big Town
In Your Eyes - Peter Gabriel
    Open Arms - Journey
    All I Want Is You - U2

We are using one song for the processional. I really love the song "Hard to Concentrate" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and about half way through the song, about the time when I'll be going down the isle, there is a tempo change in the song which gives a mood change, so I think it will flow really well.

Our bridal party is walkin' down the aisle to "Merry Christmas Baby" by Otis Redding and I am walking down to "Santa Baby" by Eartha Kitt.

I doubt my songs will help.  LOL

I think it depends on the length of the song. I'm using Canon in D, and have never thought twice about using two processional songs. Except now!!!
But, I think i'll stick to one, if I remember right, Canon in D is long, I have five BM's and I think we could fit us all in. Might think on it a little. Sorry I'm not too helpful! Smile

sorry, didnt mean to make anyone doubt! actually it is helpful to know someone else is using just the one song. if i cant find anything else i love as much ill prob do just the one now, except we have 6 bridesmaids and the song is only 3:39. i hope thats long enough! guess we will have to time it.

I actually hadn't even thought about just one song, but that isn't a bad idea. We are using two songs.
WP: Sparkplug Minuet (from the Royal Tenenbaum soundtrack), by Mark Mothersbaugh
Bride:Perpetuum Mobile by Penguin Cafe Orchestra
Both are pretty non tradional and kind of unique. My DJ is queing them up to specifci spots in the songs.

Were just having one... canon in D, which is what I was born to as well. But were not having a bridal party, I have seen people with small processionals use one and it isn't weird.

If you wanted to shorten Canon in D for just you, you could edit it.  Part of it's much more dramatic than the other parts.  I'd pick that for myself, if I didn't do the whole song.

Their version of All You Need Is Love is amazing.  I also really like their version of Wonderful Tonight (Eric Clapton) and All I Want is You (U2).

OK, I'm really not trying to be a wet blanket, but have you read the words to Santa Baby and really thought about it? It's a song about materialism, basically...is that really the message you want your future husband and guests to get as you're walking down the aisle? I love the song, but if I heard that at a wedding I'd definitely be giving the side-eye to my friends/family. I just wanted to mention that in case you hadn't thought about that.
