Price of a wedding!

So my fiance and I have started looking around at venues, and we are planning on paying for basically the whole wedding.  We have found a few places we like, and I told my father about them and he seems to think that its ridiculous we spend this kind of money on a wedding. We have found one place we absolutely love and it is 25,000 for everything included...flowers photography the whole deal, but with everywhere else we looked food and beverage minimums have been 12,000 to 15,000...just wondering what other brides and grooms out there are spending?

I spent a little over $5,000 on my whole wedding.  You really don't have to spend that much unless you want to.

# of guests will be a huge factor. I hope you aren't paying $25k to feed and entertain 30 people.  If your guest list is 500, though, that's a pretty good deal.

Geography will also play a huge role.  A Boston wedding will cost more than one in, say, Hattiesburg, Mississippi and maybe less than one in Newport or New York or LA. 

Whatever you do, don't go into debt for it. If you have the $25k sitting in the bank, then do what you want. But if you have a combined income of $60k/yr and tons of student loans, please don't spend $25k on a wedding.
