She must be a gem to be around

From La Bumpe:

Worried about the future

As if being a mom didn't already have its lists of worries, but now I worry about my future grandchildren.  I wonder if my daugher will breastfeed her children, if my son will urge his wife to do so, if my kids will let their children cry it out, or if they'll spank their children.  These are all important issues with me, and now I worry for my future grandkids!

Her kid is an infant. Undecided

I really feel bad for her kids.  They're going to be so micromanaged that they're going to die of alcohol poisoning the first week of college celebrating being out of her clutches.

Maybe she'll inspire her kid(s) to remain childless forever.

Or maybe they'll just cut off all contact with her.

You know what pisses me off about this? Every day there are like 800 posts on that board about how awful their mothers/MILs are for trying to force their wrong, oldschool parenting philosphies on them. The lack of self-awareness is astounding.

I read the responses 'cause I was hoping this was some sort of weird inside-AP-board joke. But the AP ladies were as perplexed/annoyed as you all are. You know you're BSC when AP gives you the side-eye.

I'll admit to not-so-secretly hoping that my kids decide to have kids themselves.  But it'll be a much more secret hope once they are old enough to know what I'm saying.

And lol @ AP giving her the side eye.  Crazy indeed.

Oh I KNOW!  They get so pissed if their mom/MIL aren't on board with baby wearing/cloth diapering/anti-CIO/BF-ing or if the mom/MIL has opinion on it.

And oh-ma-gah if their DH isn't 100% pro-AP or doesn't do whatever the way *they* want it done.

I was talking to SIL (18mo niece's mom) about AP - she was stunned at the whole concept - "but what if you have to go to the bathroom/shower/have sex/etc?"

How do they teach self-reliance and independence in their kids? Or are they not supposed to teach those things?

I mean, if I had to boil my parenting down to a philosophy, it really would be "Teach her to do things by herself so she'll be a self-sufficient adult". Which I thought was every parent's goal, but I'm beginning to think not....

No. Those APers are going to be the parents that go on job interviews with their kids.
