My dress...

So I went in for my first dress fitting and was bummed that even with them adding length I can only wear a two inch heel :(:( (I usually wear 4 inch ones to work every day) so going down to a two inch just doesnt feel like me... then it was pretty big, which I'm sure I'll like it more when its all taken in but I just don't love it and I'm super bummed about it.... I've been trying to love it and get that ah-ha moment but I just feel like I look ok in it... even though everyone else said its great! This feeling really sucks and I hope it goes away before the wedding day... (thanks for letting me vent)!

I'm sorry. :(  What about it doesn't feel right besides the length and it being too big?

I dont know really... its the dress I kept going back to and kept giong back to and my sister and Mom and everyone really loves it I guess I just feel like its not grand enough you know and that I can't wear high heels with it...I really think that once it fits I may feel better it was just so huge and then when its all pinned it almost looks worse!

Did you try it on with higher heels? Is it really noticably short?

Sorry....that really stinks and is disappointing. I would just wait til its the right size and try again and try not to get too down about it just yet.

oh no! i'm really sorry elleh! When I saw you in that dress, i really felt like it was made for you. You can totally sport 4 inch heels in some pics.. just pull the dress up, do a pic like i posted down a ways...

you really look amazing in that dress.

i had that feeling too sorta.. my dress is very similar to yours in a few ways.. no embellishments.. but i think that you'll shine. esp with your earrings. your dress is amazing and you kept going back to it for a reason! don't fret love! its really gorgeous.

Awe, sad. Well, if it makes you feel any better, I can't go over 2 inch heels either (mostly cuz I'd be taller than FI). I hope you feel better when it is fitted!

Could they add a layer to the bottom to "lengthen" it?  Maybe similar to like Champagne's dress?  hers came with the material on the bottom, but something like that might work?  I'll see if I can page her to come over and post a pic. :)  Definitely ignore it all pinned - it will look bad until it's done.

Ditto PP... I think you will be really surprised how much better it looks when it isn't all pinned. When it fits you, I think it will "feel" like your dress and you'll feel better in it!

Also, when you are wearing the whole ensemble on your wedding day-- it won't seem like it isn't grand enough. Are you carrying flowers or having a veil? I bet when it is all together and you are beaming from ear to ear because it's your wedding day... it will be beautiful!

It really is beyond distracting when it's too big. And, once you're in this tent and not having that fairytale tears and 'this is it' moment, it's easy to start thinking it's all wrong. But remember that the 'this is it' moment also leads people to do crazy things. For instance - Friday's new Say Yes where she spent $11,000!

The shoes part is a big bummer but maybe look at it like this - most of us will be wearing higher heels than usual so that's special. So maybe wearing lower heels than usual is special? I know. Major stretch. :)

What would help you like this dress better? A brooch? Other embellishments like a sash? What about an extra fancy veil?
