little boys who are uncircumcised are 4x more likely to contract a UTI that can lead to renal failure if untreated. UTIs in little kids are often not caught very quickly.

... just something to consider.

SAVE THE FORESKINS!!!

(i think this should be up to the parents/family to decide)

they also don't take into account the fact that the recovery from the circumcision is much easier for an infant than an adult.

I want to know, will there be exclusions allowed? There are medical reasons and of course religious ones to have a circumcision. I don't think it is something that should be done to all newborn boys, but i also don't think you can legislate it.

H's friend had to be circumsized in his teenage years and he said it was the worst experience ever.

BIL was circumsized in his late teens. H is un. He insists on circumsizing our theoretical sons.

There are so many factors in this decision, this is BS.

Not that it shocks anyone I'm *rawr, gvt interference is evil* but, the medical science is iffy (on EITHER side), which makes it even stupider to legislate.

I was leaning toward having it done if we had a son because of what I know of disease-type-stuff at this point.  But there's not enough 'con' to ban it, IMO
. is there something about american boys that make them prone to renal failure, UTIs and death if uncut?
Posted by Wifezzilla
Tudies I'm thinking of deal w/ STDs and HPV and the like...not UTIs..
try this:
<a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/27/health/27std.html" rel='nofollow'>http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/27/health/27std.html</a>

And I'm not saying it's conclusive enough to say 'zomgs, cut them all' but it's conclusive enough to put some checks in the 'pro' column...(not that the CDC is unbiased but, "the relative risk for HIV infection was 44% lower in circumcised men. The strongest association was seen in men at high risk, such as patients at sexually transmitted disease (STD) clinics, for whom the adjusted relative risk was 71% lower for circumcised men." isn't anythign to sneeze at)

The thing that bothers me about it is that it's a matter of personal choice. It's a family decision, not a government decision.

We did circumcise Baby A for the hygiene reasons, as well as others. I don't believe the government has a right to ban something like this.
