s/o Boots - question

Do you pull your boots off with your hands or use one foot against the heel of the other?

Am I the only one who uses my foot to pry my boots off?  Because last night, the sole of my boot ripped away from the heel.  DH shoe gloo-ed it, but scolded me that I take them off like I'm a 5 yo.

This might make me sound like a damned hick, but it depends on the boots.

Good boots = fitted cowboy boots and you either need someone to put their hands under the heel and lift them off OR you have the heel mud thing outside that you set your boot heel in it and it provides the (almost) same um...prong?

My dress boots with zippers do not need this.  My riding boots do.
