Whoa.  So old lady's crime was sighing too loudly?

I have to side with the old lady on this one.  It is completely unfair when they open a new line and take the people who have been waiting the least amount of time.  Old lady should have creamed her in the face with that yogurt.

That isn't karma that's flat out bitchy.  I hope that "beloved yogurt" gave her the runs.

My understanding was that she left her basket on the floor, knowing that the old lady was backing into it. Is everyone else reading it that way?

WHAT THE WHAT. FELICIA, WHO BASICALLY CALLED MYRTLE A B!TCH FOR NOT LETTING THE OLD LADY CUT IN FRONT OF HER, THINKS THAT STORY IS OKAY.

WHAT A FCKING SOCIOPATH. YES I'M YELLING.

I read it the same way. She put her basket down and then never picked it up when the old lady was moving. All she did was "rescue" her yogurt.

y'all know how i feel about line cutters.  i do not let anyone cut in line -- i don't care if they are bleeding and on fire.  if they ask, sure.  if i offer, sure.  but no one just cuts in front of me without me saying something.  or possible sticking my foot out for them to trip on.

i am okay with old lady getting what's what.  but i do think the op cut in line.  when a new line opens, you let the people in front of you get in that line, not the people behind you.

Seriously, that woman could have broken her hip, or her back, and this chick didn't just let it happen, she encouraged it. What a cvnt. I'd have called the police and pressed assault charges. Even if she didn't legally do anything wrong an afternoon with the police would have killed the cocky attitude. I'm really seriously angry about this.

I dunno, hmo. It's one thing to be disgruntled and cut in line in front of the sighing lady. But it's another to knowingly leave something for her to trip over, when you could've easily taken it with you or just moved it. She could've been seriously injured.

i thought old lady was in such a hurry to get into line that she didn't look where she was going, and op was simply enjoying it.

When she saw the woman making her move, OP plucked her yogurt out of the basket, and left it on the floor.

No, I took it as old lady was backing up slowly enough that the chick had enough time to bend down, retrieve an item from the basket so it wouldn't get damaged, and stand up again. I also don't think it's right to put your basket down in the middle of the line. If I can't hold mine for some reason I put it between my feet where no one can trip over it but me.

That's the way I read it too MrsMyrtle.  She knew the woman was going to trip over the basket.  She had time to bend down and get the yogurt, but didn't bother to stop the woman from falling.
