Wedding Woes

This annoys me

There's a photo essay on the local Creative Loafing website to accompany a story about a giant building that was once the southern regional catalog distribution center for Sears, was later purchased by the city, and is now pretty much the largest abandoned building in the area while it awaits plans for redevelopment.

TWICE in the captions, the author uses "would've" instead of "would have."  WTH??  I know it's an online article, but isn't it pretty basic journalism not to use (or at least minimize the use of) contractions?

It's the local weekly entertainment paper - restaurants, concerts, movies, etc, but they also do feature articles.

I'd be more annoyed reading robot language. What's wrong with contractions? (Although, I'm not a journalist, so maybe that makes a difference?)

Also - be glad it wasn't "would of". That would be more cause for concern IMO.
